It's okay to change your mind

Updated: Jan 1, 2019

I think my choice to live more minimally is because I hate having too much stuff.

Ever stand in front of the toothpaste section at the store? Too many choices. There must be 30 different brands / kinds of toothpaste available. The hair care section? Even worse. I’ve noticed that I get irritated and annoyed with overwhelm of any kind, particularly regarding consumerism. Now that I’ve identified it, I can recognize it, and deal with it effectively.

I also used to think I had to commit to something FOREVER. Whether it be a hobby, career choice, and everything in-between. I once collected refrigerator magnets from places my husband and I traveled to, so they had meaning and sentiment. Suddenly, everyone was buying me magnets. After a few years, I just had too many, and it wasn’t enjoyable anymore. So I got rid of them. It’s okay to change your mind.

Do you know someone that is a shoe fanatic? Or purse fanatic? Maybe it’s you! But at some point, if you feel the stress and strain of trying to keep up with the latest trends or popular designers, and it's draining your wallet, it is definitely okay to stop simply because you changed your mind.

Choices we make appeal to us at the moment we think we need it in our lives. But it’s definitely okay, even good, to change your mind.

Allow yourself permission to grow and expand. If you’ve been locked in a career that isn’t making you happy, but it IS what you know, or even the only thing you know, that doesn’t mean you can’t change your direction.

You have only one life, so go out and discover as much as you will allow yourself to; focus, and keep aiming!
